My name is Donavon Houston.

I was born in Denver and raised in Houston TX funny enough.

I'm a student at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and studying media production.

I love editing and creating; just as a whole. Let it be with music, writing, or art I enjoy refining something and eliminating those jagged edges on my rough draft, and enjoying the finished piece in the end. I hope that my art is eventually able to speak to someone without them knowing anything about me. Making their own assumptions or connecting my work to their life sounds very appealing to me. Though not officially recognized some works that I've put out (essays, short films, poetry, and a couple of interactive digital pieces) have been showcased in front of academic and intellectual audiences. I enjoy taking inspiration from both chaos and peace.  Such as the messy style of Jean-Michel Basquiat, or the neatness of Van Gough's landscape pieces. Growing up I was always surrounded by black art through my church in Houston which used to hold art exchanges within the community. This has definitely encouraged me to explore new styles seeing how unique each one of the pieces were I hope that with my art I'm able to express a visually appealing medium between these two styles while also incorporating my feeling and experiences to better connect with my audience. I've attempted to explore many different art mediums such as oil and water-based painting, drawing, sculptures, pottery, and interactive experiences both physically and digitally. With digital art, I'm hoping to broaden my artistic horizons and learn more from my professor as well as my peers. I enjoy approaching art with an open mind in order to appreciate at least one aspect of each piece I look at. With how subjective art is, I've always wondered who I was to judge somebody else's work because I discovered that some things speak louder to certain people.
